As rain fills Palolo Valley on a Sunday afternoon, it’s been a busy weekend at Civil Beat. On Friday we rolled out a new way to navigate the site through the use of tabs. Gus, Lika and Joannie seemed to like it and we hope most of you do too.

But that was just the start. We’ve been rolling out a bunch of improvements throughout the weekend. In case you missed them or want a “cheat sheet” for what’s different on Civil Beat, here you go:

  • Discussion Index: Quickly see all the Civil Beat discussions, including discussions by most recent comment.
  • Go Deeper: Articles: Find topic pages related to an article in the “Go Deeper” section at the bottom of each article.
  • Topic Pages: Related Articles: After you’re up-to-speed on a topic and are hungry for more, you can find related articles at the bottom of the page under “Related Content.”
  • New Beat Page Layout: We took the design from our Front Page and put it on the Beat pages. Got rid of that carousel, we didn’t like it so much and we’re not sure any of you did either.
  • Member Content: Easily see what content is “member-only,” in other words, visible only to members.
  • Faster: Fast-loading pages are good — we don’t want you waiting for our content. So we tweaked some things to make our pages load faster.
  • Fixed bugs: Bugs are a fact of life for a start-up. Doesn’t mean we like them. So we spent a bunch of this weekend squashing more bugs.

We hope you like these changes. Please let us know what you think. And just because the weekend is over doesn’t mean we’re done. More to come!
