on Gov. Linda Lingle‘s desk states if the amendment for an appointed board of education passes in the November election, first appointments could be made as early as December — a month after the election in which six board seats will be up for grabs.
Current board members expressed concern this week that the possibility of new appointments to nearly half of the board’s seats might discourage board candidates from spending money and time on campaigns that could possibly be nullified within a month of the election.
