UPDATE: More National Attention on 1st Congressional Race
As if Hawaii Democrats weren’t already feeling the pressure…
The Washington Post on May 6 that an intraparty feud may cost Democrats in Hawaii — the “bluest of blue states” — a seat in Congress. The Post says the loss may happen despite the fact that “a Democratic machine has controlled politics for the five decades since statehood.”
Politico, meanwhile, Case “went two for two” in picking up endorsements from both of Honolulu’s daily newspapers.
And the Associated Press that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has given up on trying to influence the outcome of the race. “Despite spending more than $300,000, frustrated House Democrats may abandon efforts to win a special election in Hawaii after quiet diplomacy failed to end a high-level party feud that threatens their prospects.”
Just a reminder: A total of 14 candidates are vying for the seat.
