Today we’re excited to announce two new benefits available to Civil Beat members: events, aka “Beatups” and the Morning Beat email.

Events, aka “Beatups”

Why is an online news service putting on offline events? Events are something we’ve always envisioned and are a natural extension of what we’ve started to build online: rich interactions between our members, some of whom are key players in Hawaii.

So what are these events?

Access to Hawaii’s key players. Our goal is to put Civil Beat members and Hawaii’s key players in the same room with each other. An opportunity to learn, understand, debate, and discover in an environment with the Civil Beat values.

Priority for Members. Our members will have priority access to our events. In addition, full members will get free or discounted access. Depending on the type, size and demand of an event, members might also be able to invite a friend along.

Two events per month. Our goal is to hold two events per month.

Morning Beat email

Start your morning on the right beat with a preview of the day’s Civil Beat edition. We’ll share the articles we’re publishing that day so you get a head start on today’s must-read stories.

If you have thoughts or ideas about the latest member benefits we’d love to hear from you. Let us know what you think of the first Morning Beat email and stay tuned for details on our first Beatup!
