In recent weeks, we’ve written a series of articles to get a good glimpse at some of the issues related to nonprofits and taxes. Today, some 1,842 nonprofits in Hawaii could lose their nonprofit status. Nonprofits that haven’t turned in annual tax returns for the past three years will lose their tax exemptions if they don’t file a 990 form by the end of the day.

The IRS issued its own release about the deadline, and where you can find the appropriate form to save nonprofit status. Here in the islands, , an alliance of nonprofit organizations, issued a press release about local nonprofits (see below). The popular nonprofit hub Guidestar also gives some on a national scale.
