The proposed fuel and property tax hikes floating around City Hall this week are a reminder of the serious financial challenges it’s facing. I’ve prepared research that I hope will make it easier for citizens to understand where Honolulu gets its money, how it鈥檚 spent and why there鈥檚 a looming deficit.
We already pay some of the highest gas prices in the country, and have one of the most punishing income tax rates. That’s why they say there’s a Price of Paradise.
